not too much sleep, but so much fun riding my bike though from one town to the next. there is nothing like having a bike partner and watching the back of their legs pedal.

sunny, chances of rain today. z leaves for s.f.

see you soon, donut man.

i am listening to a song that i think resonates and expresses my nature. stuttered, filled with mistakes, simple, repetitive and of course i went to look for the artist and song title and it says "????-????". it is a folk song in 4/4.

i raked in circles today. i made crop circles out of dead weeds in the farthest field. i drank a lot of water, came upon the shell (intestine) of sausages, and drew blood twice today. once on my ankle and then again on my shin- different legs. i am getting a horrible sports bra tan also. it will be embarrassing at the end of this hot week.

i have been reading about the wonder of salt. historically, the intake of salt has been associated with fertility, an aphrodisiac even. they say a woman who has had a lot of sexual experience has been seasoned. isn't that funny?

my one desire

tonight: experiment lace for rhubarb pie

yesterday: transplanting spinach

a portrait of my visit to the library:

habla con ella
volver
rats
landscaping with fruit and vegetable trees
salt

i told rose how cool it was that rat vaginas swell when they are in heat, and like traps they shut when they are pregnant.

after your laughter, a little bit of tears

you treat me so cold honey
you make me feel bad
you make me cry honey
i wanted to die

how many times must i say i'm sorry
how many times must i say i'm sorry sorry sorry
you treat me so cold honey
you open my love my honey
and then you laugh
you make me feel bad
you make me cry honey

you brought me through changes
i never went through before
i said i was leaving
but i never got out of the door

i never had ease honey
i'm always on my knees honey
im begging you please
to forgive me

you treat me so cold honey
you make me feel bad
you make me cry honey
i wanted to die

how many times must i say i'm sorry
how many times must i say i'm sorry sorry sorry
you treat me so cold honey
you open my love my honey
and then you laugh
you make me feel bad
you make me cry honey

throwing shadows into my eyes?

Wednesday, May 13, 2009

today i mixed, scaled and shaped pain au levains, miche, and olive rosemary boules. i love it i love it i love it.

zach has a film screening i wish i could go to. whenever we talk he always has some new announcement about his film getting in somewhere- getting second place or honorable mention or some new amazing beautiful contact he has made with filmmaker peers. frankly, im really jealous and it drives me insane and will probably never get tired of hearing about it. he's off to SF soon and i hate to think that my soulmate will be another great distance away again. we have plans to do sunrise shooting thought and i am so excited. nothing is better than golden light. that is just how i see the world - with rising light.

yesterday i was reminded again that life is a mating call. superficial and off topic, but i think i look better in california.

the road to hell is paved with good intentions

(dan with cucumbers!)

i made graham cracker brownies tonight.

also, what smells worse than a decomposing coyote? a rabbit found in a wet bag of grain. or blood meal (rendered blood of cow) with growing maggots. i moved those two things around today, and i also transplanted sweet peas and covered the kale.

something really noteworthy: i went to brookfield farms (one of the first CSA farms in new england) today and i was so amazed by the presence, organization, and humor of dan, the farm manager there. i basically swooned over and over again when he dove into the structure of all the programs and functions of their DBA (doing business as) brookfield farm. he had the most amazing hand motions and he knew how to talk about the weather and the right time for plants.

he told this great story about his strawberries. he read it was suppose to be 38 degrees last night, but went out at 4 in the morning to check on the strawberries. the thermometer said 39, but then he went to check back at 4:30 and it said 37. at 5 it said 35. by six it was 34.7 degrees. he took care of his strawberries. tonight they are covering them just in case.

brightness of your eyes

i just saw the most beautiful girl ever, she inhibited me.

things are good. today is the farmer's market so i'd like to see that and do some research in town. wear a dress knowing it will thunder later.

yesterday ian came out to me and it felt like he was my high school boyfriend. i waited in the driveway reading in short shorts and he pulled up in his stepdad's truck. i hopped in and we went to lake wyola. on the way back i didn't want to go back and almost considered making us sit in the truck to hang out.

ah, i found out you can rent fishing poles from the library down the street from me. they have other amazing amenities too.

today we leveled 32 ft of dirt foundation for the stone wall that will be around the greenhouse. rocks are really heavy i found out, and we only moved a couple of them between three people. but look at the dirt wall i have pictured here. that is ghandi sleeping on our work. we also removed winter debris, and i tilled from the greenhouse to the peaches. i also seeded brocolli, cabbage, collards and kale.

tomorrow i'll be at the bakery! and back at home base will be some rhubarb pie production and yogurt making if raw milk is around.

reading about fish and reading about dairy.

i am in love sasha, a border collie mix that is too unaware to go outside because she'll chase cars. she remains absolutely the sweetest, along with little boy (the kitten) that sleeps on sasha.

I was noted here.

Collaboration with C. Cheney.

day 1, shutesbury, ma

i saw flax wheat, spelt, rye, oat and barley today. learned about the wheat varieties, from white wheat vs. red wheat to soft wheat vs. hard wheat.

putting out the seedlings and making yogurt tomorrow. pretty much moved in with lots of space to spare. so excited to get lamb in june! i will be making cheese again. apparently, sheep's milk gets the highest yield of cheese than to any cow or goat- about a pound for every liter!

last night watched the witches of eastwick with a sleepy rose and another great islander.
________

red wheat is associated as a landrace crop and w heritage grains
white wheat is part of the pure line crop variety, a more modern development (e.g. the japanese have developed wheats crops that yield to a certain height to avoid falling down from the weight of crop)

soft wheat, less gluten, better for cake flours, more starch content
hard wheat, more gluten, better for bread flours, more protein content

two important things that make up gluten:
glutenin - responsible for the elasticity, allows for leavening
gliadin - help rise, and give fixed shape
--> both properties makes up 80% of protein in wheat seed

nowness as self-symbol

it is.

the way the world is revealed to us moment by moment

everything is expressing itself as what it is. everything is alive and talking to us.
