mundo real

today was my second day of selling bread to rich people by a well groomed park. i decided that i want to tutor part time because i really dont know if i could work selling bread and then later in the week selling cheese to rich people at some other store. also, i quit baking as a career four days ago, but it turned out that i am wanted for hire! so i feel enriched with possibilities again.

to be honest i've been kind of living my life through emails. i have a hard time staying present with what is going on, and then i see events for what they are when i am writing my email. for instance, kate and i were staying with our new friends from the summer. he has a funny neighborhood because they started leaving weird things in front of our door. first it was a walkie talkie. we took it in before naman was home because we thought it was a fun thing. we played with it a bunch, and then when i picked him up from the airport later that day and he said that his neighbor had received the same thing about a year ago. following that she had received several shopping bags of lingerie multiple times. well we threw out the walkie talkie, but the next day there was a ugly fake diamond ring on top of a paper that said LEROY and a phone number. we took it in, and then naman got mad at us for taking it in. for good reason though. i suppose it gave the impression of intrigue and acceptance. so when kate left an hour or so later to get groceries she came home to encounter a bottle of baby oil on our door step. my point is, i have accepted these string of events as devishly creepy.

in any case, kate and i are in our new apt now! and it's so cute! and our building is filled with cute girls! and a cute laying hen! did i mention kate and i have seersucker shower curtains, and we are slowly accumulating an abundance of plants?

courage

Day 4 in Philadelphia. people here are INSANE. kate and i bought a ton of groceries, and we've been so good about money. i got a bread baking job starting today, and we are still on the hunt for apartments. also some how they think their row houses are houses, but they are really just apartments. also, some real estate agents are just so awful. irritability is high among philadelphia natives and long time immigrants, but our hope is high. we're not trying to neglect racial tensions, but it has been making us feel sea sick here.

+we are making new friends, slowly but surely
+folk music is awesome
+murals are also awesome

whistlin' canyon

well i'm so tired that i feel like i am dreaming all the time.

seeing you in new york tomorrow, seeing our place to live in philly on monday.

on my mind: traveling man, stealing everything he sees, run and running and never gave up.

meeting nyc tomorrow. buckets of packing i got to do.

i went up to sc for not long, and helped my brother move into a house that is nicer than our own home. we talked about how weird that is. that every place we have lived in has been nicer than our own home. we also talked about how terrifying it is to drive a monster truck with an alignment that is at least 30 degrees off and no power steering up CA-17.

i wish i was more prepared for tomorrow! i'm going to rest my eyes and see where that takes me.

la mano de un criminal

basically, a lot of wonderful things in the last week or so.
